2011 NFL Pro Bowl Preview and Predictions

January 28th, 2011 Knup Posted in Football No Comments »

The AFC-NFC Pro Bowl comes back to Aloha Stadium after a one year attempt on the mainland. Last year broke the streak of 30 consecutive Pro Bowl games in Hawaii. Miami was given the honor to host on 2010. Another change that took place last year is slotting this game to be played on the week prior to the Super Bowl. The idea was met with positive overture so it will stay at that spot. Previously, it was played after the Super Bowl. This will be the 41st time for this event and currently each team has won 20 games. Let’s preview the team and make a prediction.

Representatives of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers will not be participating in this event due to their Super Bowl appearance in a week. Five Packers players and three from the Steelers were replaced in the line-up. Also, due to injuries and other commitments, nine from the AFC and seven from the NFC have bowed out. This presents a media concern that the game is not at its best and some say it has been watered down. Critics are saying it is losing importance.

The coaches will be Bill Belichick, his third time coaching in the Pro Bowl, from the New England Patriots and Mike Smith, his first time coaching the Pro Bowl, of the Atlanta Falcons. They were automatically chosen due to the fact their teams were divisional runner-ups. Coach Belichick will not have his usual quarterback, Tom Brady, as he had off season surgery. Phillip Rivers is expected to replace him as starter. On the AFC side, Michael Vick will start at quarterback.

Some of the other players will be the Texans running back Arian Foster who amassed 1616 rushing yards to go along with 66 receptions. Brandon Lloyd will be in the backfield bringing his 11 touchdowns and Reggie Wayne at 1355 yards receiving. Peyton Manning will be participating in his 11th career Pro Bowl while Matt Cassel attends his first. Also taking the field is speedster Jamaal Charles and his 1467 rushing yards, 45 receptions and he totaled eight touchdowns on the year. Another rushing speed burner is Chris Johnson of Tennessee with 1364 yards and totaled and outstanding 12 touchdowns.

How long will the stars play? Will they put forth a great amount of effort? With history showing each team with 20 wins, this game becomes difficult to bet. Our thought is the AFC has the better quarterbacks and receivers and the NFC has the best rushing corps. The odds have the AFC +1 and the NFC at -1.

Our prediction is to bet on the AFC at +1.

AFC Championship: Steelers vs. Jets Pick

January 21st, 2011 Knup Posted in Football No Comments »

This game is a game where many people are exclaiming “can’t wait”. That seems to be the motto for this game after the post game press conference from Bart Scott following the Jets win last week. The New York Jets will head to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers for the right to move on to the Super Bowl on February 6th. The Jets come in as the sixth seed out of the AFC, while the Steelers have the #2 seed. These two teams played in week 15 with the Jets coming away with a road win at Heinz Field.

Bet on the AFC Championship at BetUS

Rex Ryan and the New York Jets have been quiet following their upset win over top seeded New England. After a bunch of trash talk leading up to the Patriots game, Ryan’s crew seems focused and determined. The Jets have not been to the Super Bowl, since the Super Bowl IV. New York, after receiving the six seed went to Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis during the first weekend of the postseason. Nick Folk nailed a field goal with no time to go to win the game. Last week, the Jets kept New England to just one Tom Brady passing touchdown. New York has seen quarterback Mark Sanchez come onto his own. The former USC quarterback threw for just shy of 3300 yards and 17 touchdowns on the season. The Jets running game has been led by former San Diego star LaDainian Tomlinson and his 914 rushing yards. Shonn Green has also added a solid season, for the two headed running back monster. The Jets defense allowed just 90.9 rushing yards per game during the regular season.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are back in the AFC title game, after taking last season off from the event. Two years ago the Steelers won the AFC and later won the Super Bowl. After starting the season with controversy surrounding quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh has turned into a dynamic team on both sides of the football. The Steelers have shown the ability score the football, averaging 24 points per game. Former Illinois running back Rashard Mendenhall was a key factor for the Pittsburgh offense. He rushed for 1273 yards and 13 touchdowns on the season. The Steelers defense was the best statistically in the NFL. Pittsburgh allowed just 276 total yards of offense, 62.8 on the ground. The Steelers got to this game after downing their long time rival Baltimore last week. After trailing 21-7 at halftime, the Steelers used 24 second half points to win the game. Since 2001, these two teams have met six times, with both teams winning three.

Both teams have what it takes to win the Super Bowl. Unfortunately only one of the teams can make the game. The home team – Pittsburgh has a distinct advantage, due to the simple fact of winning at home. Rex Ryan has led the Jets to a win at Heinz Field this season, but do not expect them to do it again. Pittsburgh comes in as a -3.5 favorite, and we feel they will cover that spread.  If you are doing any football betting over the weekend strongly consider the Steelers -3.5!  The Steelers win this game 23-17.

NFC Championship: Bears vs. Packers Pick

January 21st, 2011 Knup Posted in Football No Comments »

The NFC Championship is on the line on Sunday afternoon when the Green Bay Packers head to a familiar place; Solider Field, to take on the Chicago Bears. This will be the third time these two teams meet during the season. The Bears won in Chicago early in the season, and then Green Bay came away with a win in week 17. This is just the second time these two long time rivals have met in the NFC title game. The last time was in 1941, when the Bears downed Green Bay. The winner of this game will head to Dallas in two weeks to take on the winner of the AFC Championship for the 2011 Superbowl.

The Green Bay Packers were close to not making the postseason. After falling to the Lions and Patriots in back-to-back weeks, Green Bay was forced to win their last two games. After coming home and blasting the New York Giants in week 16, that set up their date with the Bears. The Packers had to win to be in. After making the postseason, the Packers started in Philadelphia, upsetting Michael Vick and the Eagles. Last week, Green Bay poured in 48 points in a blow-out win over the top seeded Atlanta Falcons. The Packers have seen their quarterback Aaron Rodgers put up incredible numbers, despite not making the Pro Bowl from the NFC. Rodgers finished the regular season with over 3920 yards and 28 touchdowns. Green Bay’s Greg Jennings was the top target, with 1265 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns.

The weather and the turf of the home field has been much of the talk around the Windy City. The Bears have played a string of games with the weather being a factor, including snow in the win over Seattle last week. Chicago finished with the second best record in the NFC, and had a bye during the first weekend. Seattle came to town last week, fresh off their upset win over the Saints. After 35 minutes of play, the Bears led the Seahawks 28-0. Chicago coasted from their and advanced. Jay Cutler, the former Vanderbilt quarterback saw a major improvement in his numbers from last season. Last year, Cutler led the NFL in interceptions. The Bears allowed opposing offenses to pick up just 314 yards per game, including just 90 on the ground.

As any divisional championship game – this appears to be an excellent match-up on paper. We expect the match-up to be as awesome on the field as well. A later start will make for an even rowdier crowd at Soldier Field. The crowd does not seem to bother the sure handed Aaron Rodgers. Look for Rodgers to control the line of scrimmage and take it to the Bears defense. Chicago has seen an offense of their own, so look for that to continue. Green Bay comes in -3 on the road at Chicago. We expect the Packers to win; 28-24. We are taking the Green Bay Packers -3 at Chicago on Sunday afternoon!

Week 1 NFL Preview and Promotions

September 10th, 2010 Knup Posted in Football No Comments »

This weekend is the beginning of week 1 of the NFL season. If you haven’t deposited money into your favorite sportsbook yet, you should consider doing so now. There are tons of great sportsbook promotions out there right now to kickoff the NFL and NCAA Football seasons. Here are a couple you may be interested in:

So what does week 1 have in store? Last night we saw the Saints handle the Vikings in a low scoring game. On Sunday we have many more great matchups. Check out the odds below:

Sunday, Sep. 12
Denver at Jacksonville -3
Miami at Buffalo +3
Detroit at Chicago -6.5
Indianapolis at Houston +2.5
Atlanta at Pittsburgh +2.5
Oakland at Tennessee -6.5
Cleveland at Tampa Bay -3
Carolina at N.Y. Giants -7
Cincinnati at New England -4.5
San Francisco at Seattle +3
Green Bay at Philadelphia +3
Arizona at St. Louis +4
Dallas at Washington +3.5

Monday, Sep. 13
Baltimore at N.Y. Jets -2.5
San Diego at Kansas City +5

One of the feature games is Indy @ Houston. The Colts are just a few point favorites on the road. But over the years the Texans have stayed right with the Colts. Is this the year they actually beat them? Another top game on peoples list is the Packers @ Eagles. There is a lot of hype about the 2010 Packers team and how good Aaron Rodgers is. The Eagles have a lot of new players on the Roster but they home field is big for them. The Packers are just -3 favorites on the road in this one. The last headliner game is the New York Jets vs. the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football. Both the Jets and Ravens have made a lot of noise this offseason. Both of these teams are picked near the top of the AFC as well. Can Revis and crew handle Ray Lewis and company? The Jets are just -2.5 favorites in this game.

So there you have it. Be sure to deposit some money and do some football betting on some of these key matchups in week 1 of the NFL season.

2011 Super Bowl Odds

August 30th, 2010 admin Posted in Football No Comments »

For the largest sports betting day of the year in the US, with a close runner up being Kentucky Derby betting, the 2011 Super Bowl odds went live at the top online sportsbooks just before the beginning of the season (during pre-season). The sports books do this to get the money flowing for this game as soon as possible. It guarantees to be one of the biggest games of the entire year for any sport around the world and is the largest sports betting day in the USA. The football betting sites online all ramp up for this day all year long. The first early superbowl odds for 2011 come out each year are the NFL ‘futures’ odds on who wins the 2011 Superbowl. Lines come out before the season even starts and the top online sports books are not in agreement on what lines to offer! At the time of this posting (just before the 2011 season begins) the current odds are as follows.

2011 Super Bowl Odds – To Win

The lines change through out the NFL season, but before the season even begins right as the lines are published, here are some of the odds offered.

Bodog Super Bowl Odds 2011 – To Win the SuperBowl 2011

The Superbowl is right around the corner and all of the longshot bets have been made. Unless you have one of the few remaining teams left in the hunt then it is time to bet on who will win the superbowl. Bodog has some competitive odds and tons of superbowl prop bets. If you St. Louis & Tampa Bay both are offering 150/1, meaning the bookies think these two teams suck the most.
The Colts are 17/2 (8 and a half /1) and that is the smallest odds to win it all of any NFL team. Dallas is 9/1 odds to win the super bowl, The Saints are 10/1 and the Ravens, Green Bay, San Diego Chargers, NY Jets (yeah right) are all 11/1 which are some of the smallest odds to win of any team.
I like the falcons at 25/1 or the Steelers at 22/1. My poker buddy is going to bet on the 49′ers SuperBowl 2011 odds of 25/1 but he would bet them if they were 10/1, too!

Sportsbook 2011 SuperBowl Odds Online
Sportsbooks odds on the 2011 Super Bowl are a little bit different than Bodog, and that is 1 reason we recommend having multiple online sports betting accounts so you can compare lines before placing your bet.
The Colts and Green Bay are both 7/1, and that is the lowest odds for any team to win the 2011 Super Bowl. Not quite as good odds if you are betting on who is going to win from one of the good teams. However, St. Louis Rams and Tampa Bay are both 200/1 giving the biggest odds to turn a few bucks into a few thousand. The Falcons are 20/1 so I’m going to stick to betting on them to win the big one on Bodog. Click here to visit sportsbook.com

BetUS SuperBowl Odds
The Colts are 8/1, the Saints, Cowboys and Chargers are 9/1. St. Louis again offers 200/1 with the longest shot odds on early Super Bowl lines for Super Bowl XLV. Odds like these change as the season progresses so if you are feeling really lucky you need to get your bets in right now at the site with the best odds for your bet. BetUs.com has a ton of NFL Prop betting options, more than I’ve seen at any of the other top nfl sports betting sites online. I also really like their interface, it is easy to find the different bets you want to make. Lines seem really competitive as well. Click here for current BetUS lines.

Bookmaker SuperBowl XLV Odds

Bookmaker has the lowest odds I’m seeing yet on the favorites. The Colts get 5.25/1, the Pack gets 6.5/1, the Cowboys get 6.75/1, the Saints get 6.75/1, the Vikings get 7.75/1 and the Ravens get 9.5/1. Bookmaker has Buffalo with the longest show of winning SuperBowl XLV with 150/1. Check Bookmakers lines here.

Super Bowl XLV Odds & Line Facts

With this quick comparison it looks like Bodog and BetUs sportsbooks lead the way with some of the best early superbowl lines this NFL season. This also highlights the benefits of setting up multiple accounts at the best NFL betting sites online. You can often find large fluctuations in the odds offered from the different books and if you are going to risk your money you should try and get the most return possible if you win.

Favre Wants To Be A Viking One More Year

August 20th, 2010 Knup Posted in Football No Comments »

Legendary quarterback, Brett Favre, will be turning 41 in October of this year. While this qualifies him as middle age in the real world, in the world of athletics, that’s ancient. Brett gets a bit of a pass because he is a quarterback where speed (or lack there of) and isn’t as big a deal as it is in other positions. Because he plays quarterback, he likely hasn’t taken as many hits over the years, which has helped to prolong his athletic career as well. However, at 41, he’s still no spring chicken, even at quarterback. All of this matters because the last few years, Favre has been struggling with whether or not to retire. He recently decided not to.

Bet on the Minnesota Vikings and find great NFL Bonuses at Bookmaker.

Every time the pre-season football rolls around, Favre is indecisive about whether or not he wants to come back. The media is always there, reporting on his every move and spending hours upon hours debating about whether or not he will come back and if he even should. This year was no different. Finally, however, the waiting and watching is over. Brett has decided to give the Minnesota Vikings and his teammates one more year.

Last year was an exciting one for the Vikings. They have a nice team with a few up-and-comers who look ready to become beak out stars. The season, however, ended in a disappointing fashion, when the Vikings losing in the NFC Title game to the New Orleans Saints.

During that game, Brett injured his ankle. He underwent surgery in June to replace it. It was that surgery and an inability to rehab enough so that he would be ready for the start of the season, that led many people to believe, including Favre, that he wouldn’t return. This, however, didn’t turn out to be the case. Favre has decided to return and is currently focused on getting ready for the season.

With this news the odds for the upcoming season changed.  Take a look at some of our top NFL betting sites to see what the current odds are.

T.O. & Ochocinco In Cincinnati: Will It Work?

August 15th, 2010 Knup Posted in Football No Comments »

This offseason Terrell Owens and Chad Johnson could both be seen weekly on their respective reality television shows, on the same network. This NFL season they will be seen together each week on the same sideline. Terrell Owens has become one of the newest additions to the Cincinnati Bengals. Grab some cheap bengals tickets and place the cash you save betting the game for the home team and you’ll have just as much fun as sitting down close!

One of the individuals happiest about this development is none other then Mr. Ochocinco, himself. Chad has been very vocal about his wanting to play alongside Terrell Owens. Ochocinco even went so far as to say that he would be willing to take a backseat, mentioning that he would be fine playing Robin to Terrell Owen’s Batman. However, deciding who gets to play Batman and Robin will be a decision that head coach Marvin Lewis will have to make.

Though both T.O. and Chad have both been campaigning pretty hard to play together, there were many people that assumed that Terrell would simply have to retire or hope to be signed to a team later in the season after someone got hurt. Some people were thus, pretty shocked when the Bengals decided to give T.O. an opportunity to continue playing.

Aside from T.O., another big and controversial signing, was that of Pacman Jones. Jones was the up-and-coming cornerback who couldn’t seem to get his life together. He was constantly being arrested and seemed to find himself in trouble, more often then not. His last shot in the NFL prior to this one, came with the Dallas Cowboy, where he again found himself arrested and promptly cut. It seems that the owner of the Cincinnati Bengals has a soft-spot for those players who everyone else has given up on. This NFL season, we’ll see if his compassion pays off.

The Cincinnati Bengals will a fun team to watch no matter what happens. They now have three of the most charismatic players in the league with Owens, Ochocinco and Jones. The Bengals and those that enjoy NFL football will have to wait and see how this plays out on the field. As for NFL sportsbook betting online goes, the Bengals definitely improved their odds to make it to the Super Bowl by signing Terrell Owens. Check out the latest and great NFL odds at one of our favorite NFL sportsbooks, Bookmaker.com!

NFL Hall of Fame Game: Betting Odds Preview

July 26th, 2010 Knup Posted in Football No Comments »

Football fans and NFL betting fans desperate for the season to start will get their fix August 8, 2010 when the NFL Hall of Fame game airs. For many men and women, this game has been a long time coming. This year’s game will feature the Cincinnati Bengals going head to head with America’s Team, the Dallas Cowboys.

Preseason games such as these provide little action for veteran players. Instead, it is a time for the new players and those whose roster status is questionable to prove them selves and hopefully make the team. This year, the focus will be on the receiving games of the Cowboys and Bengals. Both teams have been big moves in this area. Fans and foes alike are wondering how things will work out. Augsut 8th, will at least provide a preview.

The Bengals picked up Antonio Bryant. They are hoping that he can successfully provide a complimentary presence to the team’s star receiver, Chad Ochocinco. Over the years, there have been some setbacks. The team’s best second receiver TJ Houshmandzadeh left for Seattle and an up-and-coming reciver, Chris Henry, died in a tragic accident. Cincinnati is hoping that Bryant will be a productive addition.

For the Dallas Cowboys, it has been tough for them to find a true number 1 receiver every since controversial figure, Terrell Owens left. They have been getting by using a community receiver model, with everyone pitching in. The team drafted Dez Bryant and is hoping that he bolsters their receiving corp. The Hall of Fame game will give both teams of glimpse of their acquisitions in real-life actions if Bryant has been signed to the team by that time.

Betting odds are in favor of the Cowboys at most of the top NFL betting sites. The NFL Betting Pick is for the Dallas Cowboys. They have them winning by 20 points with a score of 27-7. The Cowboys are the favorite mostly because they have a deeper bench then the Bengals. The bench plays a big part in NFL preseason betting. Because the bench players will play most of the minutes, teams with the best back up players typically win more pre-season games. This often bodes well for gamblers who wager on them.
