Azarenka, Murray Defend Titles In Upcoming Sony Ericsson Open Of Tennis
During the two week period between March 22 and April 4, 2010, tennis stars Andy Murray and Victoria Azarenka will be defending their 2009 titles in the 2010 Sony Ericsson Open.
On these dates the 96 top men and women tennis players in the world will convene at the Crandon Park Tennis Center in Miami, FL for the 26th Sony Ericsson Open and try their best to unseat Azarenka and Murray from their respective thrones, the first time either player has held this title.
Among the top contenders for Victoria Azarenka’s crown will be the two sisters, rivals, and tennis wonders Serena Williams and Venus Williams. And with Serena currently the number 1 women’s tennis player in the world and the reigning Australian Open Champion on the women’s side, Victoria Azarenka and Venus and all the rest have an uphill battle with Serena to contend with.
And similarly, although Andy Murray may have the men’s title, it’s Roger Federer, currently the number 1 men’s tennis player in the world and Australian Open Champ on the women’s side, who most oddsters consider the favorite.
Among the other eligible players from the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour and the ATP Tour that will be appearing on the courts are the other men’s favorites—Rafael Nadal, last year’s runner-up Novak Djokovic, Juan Martin Del Potro, the 2008 Sony Ericsson Open champ Nikolay Davydenko, Roddick and Robin Soderling—and the other women’s favorites—Dinara Safina, Caroline Wozniacki, Svetlana Kuznetsova, Elena Dementieva, Jelena Jankovic, and Agnieszka Radwanska.
