Alex Rodriguez recently became a member of a very impressive club, the 600 club. He is not one of only 8 men to ever hit 600 homeruns in Major League Baseball. Today, only the following men have bested him in number of homeruns hit, Willie Mayes, Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, Hank Aaron and Babe Ruth.

Alex Rodriguez has had his struggles in New York, with many people questioning his huge contract. It seems that the one coming was worth the wait, as it placed him in the very much coveted 600 homerun club. With that swing of the bat, Alex Rodriguez placed himself squarely in baseball fork lore. He will arguably be considered one of the best hitters of all time. Not only did Rodriguez meet this very important milestone but he did so faster then anyone else. No player in MLB history has hit 600 homeruns faster then Alex Rodriguez.  Rodriguez’s 600th home run, traveled over center field and landed in Monument Park. A worker from the stadium picked it up. No word on whether or not he kept it or handed it back over to Rodriguez.

Alex Rodriguez is one of the best players in professional baseball. He is certainly one of the highest paid players. Perhaps after hitting his 600th homerun, fewer people will be vocal about him not living up to the hype or not being worth the money. It’s difficult to downplay 600 hundred homeruns, and the fact that he reached this number faster then any other player in the history of Major League Baseball (MLB), speaks volumes.
