2011 Preakness Preview

May 14th, 2011 Knup Posted in Horse Racing No Comments »

The Preakness Stakes is the second leg of the ‘Triple Crown’ and is held every year on the third Sunday in May at the Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland.  It is a Grade 1 stakes race for three year olds contested over a dirt track 1 3/16 in length. The Preakness is often called “The Run for the Black-Eyed Susans” due to the garland of flowers awarded to the victorious horse.  The Preakness is usually the second most attended horse race in North America, behind only the Kentucky Derby.

Predating the Kentucky Derby by two years, the Preakness Stakes was first run in 1873.  It got its name from then Maryland Governor Oden Bowie, who dubbed it ‘The Preakness’ in honor of a horse of the same name that won the Dinner Party Stakes on the opening day of the Pimlico track in 1870.  The race was originally a mile and a half in length, and the inaugural event saw 7 horses go to the starting gate.  The first Preakness was won by My Sheba. Last years’ winner of this race was Lookin at Lucky ridden by jockey M. Garcia with the winning time of 1:55:47. This race will take place in May 21, 2011.

Animal Kingdom goes for the second leg of the Triple Crown and the odds on favorite to win the Preakness. The current odd shave it at +400 to win this affair. It was not a clear favorite to win the Kentucky Derby but the field was wide open at the start. Jockey John Velaquez has had many winners at the Derby and the Preakness

Dialed In was a major flop at the Derby as he spent most of the race in the back before he made his moved which proved too much to overcome. The oddsmakers still like this horse and are set at +400 for the win. Another one to watch is Sway Away at +1000 to win.

Other horses of interest to win this race are Mucho Macho Man at +600. This horse was third at the Derby and it is our pick to win this event. Shackelford finished fourth and is at +800 while Nehro is +500. It looks as if the oddsmakers want to load the odds with the top four finishers of the Kentucky Derby.

Look for Animal Kingdom to make a showing but most likely bet this horse to SHOW. Dialed In is our pick to PLACE and Mucho Macho Man to WIN.

Bet365 Casino Horse RacingOpportunities are abound to bet on horse racing at Bet365.com. And with these new Bet365 Horse Racing options come a stampede of promotions related to the sport.

Bet365 Horse Racing Promotions

As for the Bet365 Casino Horse Racing Promotions, the Channel 4/1 promotion is one that can’t be missed. You could win a free online sports bet by backing any winner at odds of 4/1 (or more) in a live UK or Irish race broadcast on the Channel 4 schedule at the same stake.

Same thing 2nd time around. That is, if you pick one in a Feature Race with the 4/1 Feature Race promotion, then do it a 2nd time – win on your free bet, in other words – and get another free bet, this time for the next live Channel 4 race.

Next, with any bet you place on Bet365, if the SP is larger than the price on your pick, then the site will pay you out at the larger odds. This offer is valid on Bet365 Early Prices, Board Prices, Showcast bets, and single and multiples.

Here are some of the other reasons why Bet365 horse racing opportunities are a greater value than meets the eye:

  • Showcasts Exclusive: Fixed price, straight forecasts and tricasts that bet365 offers on every Irish and UK horse race when those prices are available (for example, for tricasts, it would be 8 or more runners).
  • Pay Out on Disqualified Horses: Now Bet365 agrees to pay out on both the official winner and the disqualified horses on all win bets and each way bets on UK and Irish horse races.
  • Enhanced Place Terms: on select races during the year (though it does not apply to tote bets).
  • You also get early prices on each and every Irish and UK horse race. And bet365 offers the ultra-competitive Best Odds Guaranteed promise, which includes Showcast bets.

Online Horse Race Betting Basics

April 12th, 2010 Sportsbook Promo Code Staff Posted in Horse Racing No Comments »

Win – Place – Show bets are just what they sound like. A WIN bet is a bet that the horse you select will win the race. A PLACE bet is a bet that the horse you select will finish in either first or second place (doubling your chances of winning, but paying less). A SHOW bet is a bet that the horse you select will finish in either first, second, or third place, again a still more conservative bet and therefore while easier to win, lower to payout.

In an EXACTA bet you have to pick the two horses that will win first and second place and you have to select when you bet which place each of the two horses will take. In other words, if you select the right two horses, but the one you thought would come in second came in first and the one you thought came in first came in second, you lose.

An EXACTA BOX then is taking those same two horses, without needing to predict which place each one will take, so long as they both place. You can also add more horses to the Exacta Box, increasing your chances of winning, but at much greater cost—essentially cutting your potential winnings in half every time your cost for the bet doubles.

A TRIFECTA and a TRIFECTA BOX, then, are similar to an Exacta and an Exacta Box, respectively, except instead of picking just the two horses to win and place, you’re picking the three horses to win, place, and show.

Horse race betting is one of the most popular ways to bet online! FEI World Cup Dressage Finals This Weekend

March 25th, 2010 Sportsbook Promo Code Staff Posted in Horse Racing No Comments »

The FEI World Cup Dressage Finals are taking place right now, March 25 – 27, at ‘s-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands. The competition, now celebrating its 25th anniversary, pits 15 of the world’s best riders from across 10 countries against one another for one of the world’s most presitigious titles in all of horse racing.

Last year’s FEI World Cup Dressage title was taken by American rider Steffan Peters who will be unable to show up and defend his title as the US and Canada jointly agreed to pull the North American League out of the running this year. This leaves two spots open, which are being taken by Tinne Vilhelmson Silfven of Sweden and Katarzyna Milczarek of Poland. Last year’s runner-up, Isabell Werth of Germany, is hoping to go all the way this time, riding Satchmo as she represents Germany’s league along with Matthias Alexander Rath and Carola Koppelmann.

Heading up the Western European League is Adelinde Cornelissen of Holland, winner of the initial qualifying leg, joined by her fellow Alltech FEI European Championship champions Edward Gal and Imke Schellekens-Bartels. Representing the Central European League is Michal Rapcewicz of Poland, representing the Pacific League is Brett Parbery of Australia, and representing South America & Asia is Luiza Tavares de Almeida of Brazil. Nathalie Zu Sayn of Denmark, Acs Robert of Hungary, and Jeroen Devroe will also be riding.

All bets are on Edward Gal, who’s riding the same black stallion, named Moorlands Totilas, that he rode last summer when he took the Alltech FEI European Dressage Championships and has been on fire throughout the indoor riding season ever since.
