PGA Masters – Pick and Predictions

April 7th, 2011 Knup Posted in Golf No Comments »

The Masters Golf Tourney is the class of all the PGA stops. Everyone knows about the Masters, Augusta, Georgia and the Green Jacket. Even the casual fans perk up when this event is played. They can chat about Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus and Sam Snead. This is one weekend that gets a lot of following throughout the United States and the world to see who wins the “jacket”.

Let’s preview some of the golfers for this event and then make some predictions.

We have to start with Phil Mickelson and his chances to win. He has a perfect game for this course. He is a short gamer and people that win here are great putters. Mickelson is also one of the guys that can crank the ball off the tee for long distances. My third choice to win the Masters.

We are still talking about Tiger Woods?  Not really sure why but probably because he has owned this course for a very long time. He has to be a favorite just from an historical perspective.

Martin Kaymer is the #1 ranked player in the world.

Matt Kuchar has Top 25s in 8 starts this year.  He led the PGA tour in Earnings last year.

Bubba Watson – Didn’t play in the Masters Last year, but if he has two really strong opening rounds, Saturday will be a big round for him to set the tone going into Sunday.

Bill Haas – T18 finish at his first trip to Augusta last year.

Other golfers that warrant some thought before the bets are made:

Nick Watney has many have already choosing him to win it.

Dustin Johnson is my second favorite to win this.

Jeff Overton

Ricky Fowler

Graeme McDowell- my pick to click- my first pick.

D.A. Points- Pekin, Illinois native is playing his best golf ever.

Hunter Mahan

PGA Betting: Honda Classic – Free Pick

March 3rd, 2011 Knup Posted in Golf No Comments »

Palm Beach Gardens, Florida is the setting for the nest stop of the PGA tour. This is the Honda Classic to be played on the Championship Course at National Resort and Spa on March 3-6, 2011. Let’s preview some of the golfers with the best odds and then give sleeper picks to help maximize your bet.

Best odds for this event go to Lee Westwood. He is at 12/1 to win. Westwood knows this course well and many feel he has the best shot at hitting tough shots on some of the disastrous holes this course produces. Graeme McDowell is well rested after his early departure at the Accenture Match Play. McDowell is 15/1 to pull off a victory.

Third best odds go to Matt Kuchar at 20/1. Kuchar is a former winner in 2002 at the Honda Classic and has played well at every stop on the tour this year. The hot golfer this week is Luke Donald from his match play last week. He enters at 15/1 and can win this if he continues his very good putting.

Lee Westwood comes in with the best odds for this tourney at 12/1. Westwood has been here before and knows how to handle this course. He is particularly tough at holes 15-16-17 which are known as the most difficult three holes together of any on the tour. Graeme McDowell hit a snag last week with an early loss in the Accenture Match Play but it also gave him some rest time. He is a good putter and hits the greens with consistency. His odds are 15/1 to win.

Matt Kuchar won this event in 2002 but he has played very well throughout the entire tour up to this point in the season. Kuchar enters with 20/1 odds to win in 2011. Luke Donald is 15/1 mainly on his success last weekend at the Accenture Match Play. If he stays hot he can be a force in this event.

Camillo Villegas won this event last year by five strokes and is listed with 50/1 odds to repeat. Some other sleeps are Brian Gay at 40/1, D.A. Points, Pebble Beach winner, at 60/1 and Vijah Singh with 25/1 odds to win in 2011.

Our Pick: Graeme McDowell at 15/1 odds

Who are the golfers at the upcoming 2010 PGA Travelers Championship? Who will be the champion and winner of the $6,000,000 purse?

Before this article begins, I would like to ask if you think betting on golf is as exciting as say, euro football betting? I know there is World Cup frenzy right now but many of our visitors love to bet on golf, and the PGA Travelers Championship of 2010 will be on of the biggest golf betting events of the year. Get in on the golf tournament betting and place your bets at one of the top sportsbooks online!

Twenty–three year old Adam Scott from Australia makes his first ever appearance at this year’s Travelers Championship and is currently the youngest winner in history of the Players Championship, achieving this in 2004. Scott’s other accomplishments include winning in 2010 the Valero Texas Open and seven career victories on PGA tours.  Currently, Scott’s FedEx Cup standing is ranked 22nd.

Returning for his sixth time is the 2001 PGA Rookie of the Year and two-time PGA tour winner Charles Howell III. Currently, Howell’s FedEx Cup standing is 41st, and he has earned three top-finishes. In late February, Howell tied for fourth at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.

Also returning for his sixth time is Brian Davis, whose current FedEx standing has him ranked 26th. Davis in 2010 was runner up behind Jim Funk at the Verizon Heritage. While playing the first playoff hole, Brian Davis called a penalty on himself.

Justin Rose, moving to 13th in the FedEx cup, just announced he will golf in this year’s Travelers Championship Tournament. His victories include winning the Memorial Tournament for his first PGA tour in 2010, coming in third at the Honda Classic, and in 2007 winning the Order of Merit during the European Ryder Cup.

Making his second trip to a Travelers Championship is rookie Rickie Fowler. He just finished behind Justin Rose on recent PGA tour. Fowler is young too, at just 21 years old.

Entering the Travelers Championship as well is Bo Van Pelt, recently seen at the Memorial Tournament, tied for third.

Ryan Moore will also golf this years Traveling Championship. He recently tied fifth in the top-10 finish.

Tim Petrovic, who is currently ranked 11th in the FedEx cup standings, will be in this year’s tournament too, as well Matt Kuchar, who in 2010 tied at the Bob Hope Classic for second place, and finished third place at both the World Golf Championship in California and the SBS Championship.

110th US Open Golf Championship Comes To Pebble Beach June 17

June 4th, 2010 Sportsbook Promo Code Staff Posted in Golf No Comments »

The 110th US Open Championship of Golf starts June 17 and runs through June 20 at Pebble Beach, California  which has not hosted the US Open since a decade ago and has only hosted the event four times in total, until now. Pebble Beach adjusted the course to be more fitting of a championship as prestigious as the US Open, with world renowned golfer Arnold Palmer directing the design.

One of the pro golfers that will be there struggling beneath a neck injury from earlier in the year to bring his best game is Tiger Woods, who for a while no one knew whether or not he was coming. Woods was the 2000 US Open champion with a record setting 12 under par at 15 strokes.

A contender that will not be present, on the other hand, is John Smoltz, former pitcher for the Atlanta Braves, who tried to qualify for one of the 9 available spots contested by 111 local would-be competitors across the country earlier last month, but failed.

The reigning US Open Champion, having won the 2009 event at Farmingdale, New York’s ” Black Course” in Bethpage State Park after birdying the 16th hole in the final round of play, is Lucas Glover. Hot on his heels, and vying for the top title this year, are present day golfing legends in the making, David Duval, Ricky Barnes, and of course Phil Mickelson.

The winner of the 2010 US Open Championship of Golf will receive a fully US Open exemption (automatic entry) for the next decade, five years of exempt status for the PGA Tour, and invitations to the next 5 PLAYERS Championships, PGA championships, British Open Championships, and Masters Tournaments.

Tiger, Mickelson Face Off At PGA Tour Players Championship

May 6th, 2010 Sportsbook Promo Code Staff Posted in Golf No Comments »

The Players Championship of the PGA Tour of golf is taking place this Thursday to Sunday, May 6 – 9, in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida at TPC Sawgrass. Beyond the four golfing majors tournaments, the next most prestigious event on the PGA Tour is The Players Championship.

Players compete for the lion’s share of a $9.5 million prize purse, that being the $1.71 million grand prize.

Last year’s top five were:

  1. Henrik Stenson
  2. Ian Poulter
  3. John Mallinger
  4. Kevin Na
  5. Jim Furyk

But the real action at the years The Players Championship are on the battle between the two many believe are the only ones to watch on this event: Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods. After Tiger failed to make the cut in the recent Quail Hollow Championship while Mickelson took second place, it put Mickelson in a unique position. Now, if Mickelson takes the event and Woods fails to finish even in the top 5, Mickelson will surpass Woods and become the number one highest ranked player in the Official World Golf Rankings, and it would be his first time taking that honor too.

That said, Tiger has been on fire, the top ranked player for 258 weeks running and for 598 weeks total over the course of his career. Have won at Quail Hollow, in the meantime, Rory McIlroy has leapt to number 9. In preparation for the event, Tiger Woods played a nine hole practice round on the TPC Sawgrass course with Rod Pampling and Jay Haas.

2010 World Golf Championships Accenture Match Play Championship

March 8th, 2010 Sportsbook Promo Code Staff Posted in Golf No Comments »

The Accenture Match Play Championship is not only one of the World Golf Championship’s four events, but it is widely known to be the most prestigious of all four. It is also a key part of every year’s PGA Tour.

The Accenture Match Play Championship only attracts the best of the best of golf, with a specially select 64 player field. The 2010 Accenture Match Play Championship will take place February 15th through 21st at the Ritz Carlton Golf Club at Dove Mountain in Marana, in the southern part of Arizona. At stake: an $8,000,000 prize purse.

This year, the 64 top golfers in the world will convene on the Dove Mountain Ritz Carlton’s newest golf course, their Jack Nicklaus Signature course. This at least removes the advantage that Accenture Match Play Championship veterans familiar with the other Ritz Carlton Dove Mountain courses may otherwise have had.

The defending champ from last year is Geoff Ogilvy but interestingly enough, he is not the first seed. No, the first seed in this year’s event is Steve Stricker.

Don’t look for Tiger Woods at this year’s event, despite his 2008 Accenture Match Play Championship win. But you can keep an eye out for Kevin Na and Scott Verplank who could also do well in this tournament.

Many eyes are on the two second placing conteders from last year and the year before. That would be Paul Casey (’09) and Stewart Cink (’08).

Online sportsbetting websites are taking bets now for the the 2010 PGA Tour World Golf Championships Accenture Match Play Championship coming Feb. 15-21.

2010 Northern Trust Open Golf Betting

February 8th, 2010 Sportsbook Promo Code Staff Posted in Golf No Comments »

The Northern Trust Open has been a long standing fixture of PGA Tour, always boasting a roster of top notch ability.

The host for the 2010 Northern Trust Open is the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California, which in 30 years of hosting the event produced 6 multiple-time winners. Among them is Phil Mickelson, who’s held the title for 2 years running and is going now for his third. The course is Hogan’s Alley, known for also hosting many of the Majors.

As for the players, top contenders for Mickelson’s title include the runner-up from last year Steve Stricker, 1999 winner Ernie Els, and 2006 winner Rory Sabbatini.

Robert Allenby, the 2001 Northern Trust winner, is at 20/1, having reached the top 10 in 3 of the last 5 years. Not far behind Allenby is Padraig Harrington at 25/1. Pod is an interesting one to watch, as a golfer making his seasonal debut in this event rarely earns such optimism, but he did win three Majors, which has to count for something, even if he comes off a year without a single win. Then there’s Adam Scott, fresh off his unexpected Australian Open win, who’s running between 33/1 and 35/1. Of course, you could ride the 100/1 shot, Davis Love, or the slightly less risky Fred Couples (80/1) and still be hopeful, the former being a world class veteran and the latter being a two-time winner at this club.

The dates for the 2010 Northern Trust Open are February 4 – 7 and the prize purse is $6,400,000. You can bet on golf at Bodog.com, just use a valid Bodog sportsbook promo code when you sign up and get the max bonus.
